Demonology to the next level.....

My goal was to build a hotrod that would be a one-of-a-kind. I wanted to start with something nice, rare and desireable, then make it even more unusual. I decided to start with a 1971 Dodge Demon and power it with a rare 1958 392 Hemi from a New Yorker.

The Demon was built in L.A. and stayed in California till 1999. The body was solid but, it had 113 little dents in the sheet metal.

I had to intall a rack n pinion steering system because to Hemi is so wide. 10 inches wider than a 340, 1/2" wider than a 426 Hemi. The 392 has 10.5:1 pistons, .519" lift/ 290 duration cam, dual 625 cfm Carter AFBs, Block Hugger headers with 2 1/2" dual exhaust system. A 4000 RPM Trans King converter couples the Hemi to the 727 that has been reworked by TCI. A Ford 9" rear end follows up the rear.

I built the air cleaner because there was only 2 1/4" between the front carb and the hood and I couldn't find a factory made air cleaner that would fit. The master brake cylinder had to be moved 2" to the left to make room for the big guy.

Everything is working properly. It sounds like it wants to bite the 5.0 stickers off the fenders of a Mustang!

Thanks,

Bruce
