The Webmaster's Mopar Project

I purchased this 1971 Dodge Demon April 16, 2000.

As soon as I got it home I began the restoration project. The Demon spent it's entire life in sunny California. The body is in pretty good shape but, not perfect. It's currently powered by a slant six, in the near future a well built 392 Hemi w/ Dual Carter 600 CFM Carbs, .530 lift cam, Headers, 4000 RPM Converter, TCI fully manual 727 Trans.

At this point the Demon looks pretty bad. I've used 2 gallons of Aircraft Stripper and need another gallon. I found a couple of bad spots behind the rear wheels that I repaired. I found a couple of repaired dents but, overall a very solid car.

When I removed the bumpers, I simply broke the bolts lose and they came off with finger torque. I love California cars. If you are interested in a California Mopar, E-Mail me, I'm sure my friend Chas could get one for you too. The cost was really quite reasonable.

I couldn't stand that stripper and razer blade deal anymore. I called Ben at StripMasters in Rootstown, Oh. For $525.00 they media blasted the body, door jambs and engine compartment. Then next door at American Muscle Restoration, Clark appied 2 coats of a self etching primer. Now the dent removal can begin.

Well, finally a shot of the beast that will someday power my project.

Marty is the man! He owns his own classic car restoration business. At this point the 113 dents

in the sheet metal have been removed.

The old guy who was the prior owner goofed up the dash. Marty refinished the whole interior.

This is Marty's place. The little boy near the gas pump is my 4 year old son.

June 20, 2001 the Demon came home from Marty's body shop. Chase is giving the final inspection.
